Corrections
Daycare Record republishes public records from state licensing agencies. We work to show them accurately, and when we get something wrong we fix it quickly and say so.
If we made a mistake
If a page shows a record differently from the state’s own record (for example a wrong date, citation, name, address or license status, or a record attached to the wrong center), email press@daycarerecord.com with the link to the page and what is wrong. We check it against the state’s record and fix confirmed errors within two business days. Fixes that change what a page says are listed below.
If the state’s record is wrong
Our pages show what the state publishes, so a correction to the record itself has to be made by the state. When the state updates its record, the change reaches our page with the next daily update.
- Texas: a center that disagrees with a citation can ask Child Care Regulation for an administrative review, generally within 15 days of being notified. Questions about a Texas record go to Texas Child Care Regulation.
- California: licensees are told of their right to appeal a citation at the end of each visit (state form LIC 9058). Questions about a California record go to the local Community Care Licensing regional office.
What we don’t do
We don’t remove or hide accurate public records on request, and we don’t take payment to change a page. We don’t publish what a complaint alleged unless the state substantiated it. Closed centers keep their pages as a historical record.
