Core safety Jul 15, 2024 Inspection Supervision
Staff assigned to specific children 55 Pa. Code §3270.113(a)(1)
At the time of inspection on 7/15/2024, when Certification Representative talked to staff about their assigned group both facility staff #1 and #2 stated they were assigned the same children. When both staff were asked about the whereabouts of facility child #1, neither staff could immediately point the child out who was swimming in the pool while under the supervision of another staff person. *At the time of inspection on 8/12/2024, Certification Representative asked a staff person who was in their assigned group. The staff pointed out 4 children who were in the group and then indicated two children were in the bathroom at that time. The children were in a bathroom that was not in proximity for the staff to be able to see, hear or direct the children. There was no staff person directly supervising those children in the bathroom.
Center’s plan of correction (implemented, Sep 16, 2024): “The operator will ensure that each person is assigned the responsibility for supervision of specific children. There will be an additional staff person assigned to the bathrooms so the staff can maintain supervision of children and be responsible for those children in the process.”

The documentation provided did not include parental consent for swimming or transportation.
Center’s plan of correction (implemented, Sep 16, 2024): “The operator will ensure that all required emergency contact information is present when children are on an excursion.”

Exam communicable disease/Information re: medical problems 55 Pa. Code §3270.151(c)(3)/3270.151(c)(4)
During the renewal inspection conducted on 12/7/2022 observed staff person #1's adult health assessment did not include an examination for communicable diseases and the results of that examination and information on medical problems that might threaten the health of the children or prohibit a staff person from providing adequate care to children.
Center’s plan of correction (implemented, Dec 9, 2022): “Neshaminy Kids Club will make sure that the health assessment includes communicable diseases and results of examination on medical problems for all staff members.”

“Core safety” marks citations about supervision and staff ratios, discipline and caregiver conduct, background checks, child protection and safe sleep, the topics our score weights most. Pennsylvania’s records don’t grade violations by severity. “Follow-up” marks a violation re-cited at a follow-up visit, counted once. How scores work.
