A caregiver repeatedly hit a child in the face (e.g., 5 times) with his own hand along with requiring him to face the outside wall, and the caregiver wrapped the child’s arm around his own neck as well. The caregiver inappropriately picked another child up by her arm, shoulders and her hair to get her to sit against a wall outside. The caregiver threw a shoe at a child, and the caregiver put the child’s shoe in the garbage can as well.

Rather than calming herself and removing herself from the situation upon admittedly becoming overwhelmed, a caregiver persisted in her aggression, leading to the maltreatment/abuse of two children in care. Another caregiver exhibited poor judgment when she failed to intervene appropriately (e.g., by failing to alert other operation staff or verbally confronting her coworker for her abusive behaviors in the moment) during a disciplinary issue at the facility.
